Royal Bay Renaissance – a changing landscape

As the seaside community of Royal Bay in Colwood, BC takes shape the landscape is changing to reflect the uniqueness of this special place.

Don’t be fooled by the fact that this was once an active mine site, today it is reflective of seaside family living that has a community feel with a spotlight on nature.

Hats off to the developers who are taking a different approach, with a focus on environmental sustainability while still maintaining esthetics.

Whoever heard of a “Tree Nursery”? Well, Royal Bay has one and it grows trees for the development. They have also used wildflower seed to reclaim some barren areas.

Lately, the gardenologists at Down To Earth Gardens & Nursery have been hard at work adding esthetic value to the boulevards and fencelines.

We have designed and installed a soft planting scheme to enhance the feel of this community.

These additions will live and grow cohesively with nature and provide colour and texture for the people… and the geese that live here.

And a big shout out to the City of Colwood crews for all of their hard work maintaining these areas.
